Where is the synthetic grass made?

Our supplier TigerTurf has its own manufacturing facilities around the world. TigerTurf supplied in the Asia Pacific region is manufactured in Auckland, New Zealand and exported throughout Australasia, the Pacific, Asia and India. TigerTurf has been manufactured in New Zealand for over 32 years.

What is the synthetic grass made from?

Our supplier TigerTurf’s synthetic grass is made from either polypropylene or polyethylene yarn depending on its end use. These materials are durable and U.V stabilised for New Zealand conditions, sourced from TenCate Grass, the world’s leading yarn manufacturer. The yarn is tufted into a polypropylene backing cloth and rubber back for maximum turf retention.

What is the life expectancy?

Our artificial grass comes with a limited 7 year Guarantee on the surface and a 12 month guarantee on installation. Actual life expectancy is dependent on use and care, typically speaking on average 15- 20 years.

What is the cost of fully installed grass at home?

We have a wide selection of synthetic grasses available (not all listed on this website). A Lawns for Leisure representative can help you choose the right type of synthetic grass for your needs. A site inspection will determine sub surface, site conditions and access to provide you an accurate costing. If your site is difficult to access this may increase costs. Is the grass child and pet friendly?

Yes. Our grass is made from the highest quality yarns which have no toxic properties. All coatings, backings, glue, etc. that we use in the production process are also non-toxic, passing all ASTM and IPEMA requirements for use by children, animals and the environment.

Will the grass fade

No. We use a proven, technologically advanced UV coating to ensure each blade of grass retains its colour for the life of the system. This coating is effective in all climates and is not affected by use.

How do I clean it?

Our artificial grass is truly maintenance free, all you just need to do is remove materials like leaves, this can be done with a brush or leaf blower. Then you can say bye bye to your mower, fertiliser and feeds. Washing off the area with a standard hose will remove any dust. Jet pressure washing is not recommended as it could cause damage.

What type of base is required underneath the grass?

The synthetic grass must be laid on a suitable base. This is a constructed or prepared base which ensures the grass is laid flat and looks natural and great.

Our skilled installation team will visit your site beforehand to survey, if drainage is poor we would recommend using a permeable aggregate compacted into place. We can also install on hard standing or paved areas such as decks concrete paths.

The garden is boggy with bad drainage, would this be a problem?

No, it just means you most probably require a permeable aggregate which would improve the gardens drainage as well as giving a firm base for the artificial grass to be laid on.

Does the artificial grass require sand in it?

All our grasses are designed to be simply rolled our and be fixed down. We would recommend a sand infill if you have large powerful dogs as the sand adds extra security to the base. But this is an optional added extra.

What if someone spills something on the grass?

Synthetic grass is very resistant to staining. Spills can be cleaned easily. Damage to the grass can be repaired, in a similar method to repairing carpet.

What happens when the dog does its mess?

Like a normal lawn you would pick up any large pieces and the small particles will wash down through the grass when it rains. Dog urine, no problem it washes away and does not discolour the grass.

Is it environmentally friendly?

Yes, it doesn’t need to be watered unlike real grass in prolonged periods of hot weather. No Lawn feed pesticides or weed killers need used. It also needs no mowing so no petrol / exhaust fumes and most importantly to the neighbours. No Noise.
